Danone is part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's New Plastics Economy initiative

Danone has embarked on a three-year Strategic Partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to further embed circular economy principles both inside and outside the company.

The partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation marks an important step in achieving our 'One Planet. One Health' frame of action.

For decades, conventional supply chains have been linear; taking, making and disposing of resources - often to landfill. With the global population set to reach nine billion by 2050, access to quality food and water is becoming an increasing challenge. We are embracing a circular model, embedding circularity into their business by organising their key materials - milk, plastic and water - into cycles, and working to align their actions and products with circular economy principles.

Through this partnership, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation will collaborate with our central and local brand teams in their effort to transition Danone’s brands toward a circular economy. Danone teams have access to extensive education and training to generate widespread understanding of the circular economy, and drive behavioural change within Danone and among value chain partners.

Focus Areas

  • Support Circular Economy Strategy of Danone’s Cycles and Sourcing teams
  • Engage internally (Danoners) and externally (customers, stakeholders) to achieve mindset shift
  • Accelerate progress of Danone brands and country business units’ projects on circular economy
