Why drink
bottled water?
Being well hydrated is the easiest way to stay sharp and on the ball.
Convenient access to healthy hydration
Nearly half of all the bottled water we consume takes place away from home. Bottled water provides easy and convenient access to water where it wouldn’t otherwise be readily available. This is a key benefit for those of us who seek the purity and simplicity of water in preference to alternative beverages, which may have higher calorific content and contribute to a higher carbon footprint.
No chemical treatment
When water is consumed at home, the easy answer might be to drink tap water, but the reality is that many of us choose bottled water in preference to tap water.
Natural mineral waters and spring waters are bottled under controlled conditions at source, and are subjected to continual quality checks to ensure their consistency and quality. They are not permitted to undergo any chemical treatment.
Tap water is collected from locations such as rivers, reservoirs and once treated it is transported to point of use through a network of underground piping systems. Inevitably, it has to be chemically treated to ensure that it is safe to drink.
Once used, this water is then treated via effluent treatment plants before it is release back into the river system.
Taste
Natural mineral waters taste as nature intended. Subtle differences in taste between brands can exist, because of the mineral contents created by the different geological characteristics of their sources.
All tap water in the UK is chlorinated. For this reason, a subtle hint of a chlorine taste is sometimes noticeable when we drink water from the tap.
Emergency
Bottled water is essential in many emergency situations and is often the only source of water.
In the summer of 2007, during heavy flooding in the UK, which left many homes without drinking water, the bottled water industry including Danone, were able to help supply millions of bottles of safe drinking water to those in need. It is simply a life saver because it is easy to store and easy to transport.
