Global
initiatives
While the purpose of traditional business is to maximise profit without losing sight of the impact on the community, we seek to maximise community benefits without losing sight of profits.
Our International Projects
Grameen DANONE Foods project in Bangladesh
In partnership with the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank, Danone Communities launched a programme aimed at delivering nutritionally enriched yogurts at affordable prices to low income areas. Even when faced with doubling milk prices in 2008, Danone adapted containers and recipes to keep costs low and introduced new lines to boost sales and business continued to grow.
1001 Frontaines
A business enterprise which provides drinking water for people in rural areas. In Cambodia many isolated villages have no access to clean water and regularly suffer from poor sanitation due to consuming swamp water. The association has developed a cost effective, environmentally friendly method of sanitising water using solar energy. Once treated, water is bottled and distributed. We aim to supply 80,000 people with drinking water by establishing 40 treatment plants to be run by local teams.
Laiterie du Berger
In Senegal, the fund is supporting a small business set up by a young local veterinary, Bagore Bathily. The association collects milk from 600 Peul herders, establishing a sound livelihood for famers, as well as supplying local communities with fresh milk. This provides an alternative to imported powdered milk and delivers quality products such as yogurts and cream – at affordable prices.
